Mitsuyuki Shibata
He is known as a photographer and movie cameraman. He resides in Hayama.
Starting out in the world of surfing, he has found success in a wide range of fields, including advertising, magazine editorials, films, and commercials, and he has received high praise in recent years at overseas galleries as well for his romantic and richly atmospheric photos themed on the ocean captured from his unique perspective. He does not simply take photos, but rather is an artist who gives the viewer new perspectives and inspiration through the way he approaches his own lifestyle and nature. His profound love of surfing and the ocean and the skill and sensitivity with which he expresses it have earned broad support, and he continues to be active in many areas today. In this way, his works and activities are highly regarded for the way in which they capture in full the ephemeral beauty and atmosphere of the ocean, and have elevated it as art.
